Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is a name for a condition that describes wrist and arm pain. Symptoms include:
- Numbness
- Tingling
- Swelling of the wrist
- Shooting pains up and down your arm, wrist, fingers and hands
In more severe cases even light pressure on the wrists causes excruciating pains and dropping objects is common. Waking up at night with wrist pain and morning wrist stiffness are earlier warning signs.
- Injuries to the wrist, shoulder or neck
- Repetitive use and strain of the wrists
- Pounding with the hands
- Poor wrist posture while working
- Prolonged static positions while sitting and working on computer terminals
- Awkward or abnormal positions
- Vibration to the hands from machines
- Pregnancy
- Incorrect sleeping positions
- Hobbies that stress the wrists
